Euclidean distance was compared to bit score and phylogenetic distance to evaluate the fidelity of these parameters. Euclidean distance in the FA_desaturase pfam is strongly correlated with bit score (R2 = 0.4232 n = 2,439,512), obtained from reciprocal blast, and with phylogenetic distance (R2 = 0.5029, n = 2,439,512), as summed branch lengths from a maximum-likelihood tree. Orange lines are linear models fit to the complete data sets; only 10,000 randomly selected data points are plotted.
