  1. Note: PCR-amplified fragments were visualized on ethidium bromide stained 1% agarose, 1 × TBE gels. Approximately 13% of PCR products could not be visualized following the first amplification due to product yield below the threshold of ethidium bromide detection; 54% of these (183) were re-amplified.
