Time course of fracture healing in Ovis aries. Time line showing the central processes during fracture healing in a sheep model under standardized external fixation (mechanically uncritical). The starting time and duration of each process were estimated from histological analysis at the indicated time points. The temporal extension of the enchondral ossification phase is loosely defined with the starting and ending point probably being localized between the analyzed time points (Lienau, Schell, and Duda, unpublished data).
