Table 1 Comparison of q and p values for the NCI60 and NCI39 studies. The NCI7 study suggested that the majority of correlates pairs identified in the NCI39 study with a correlation greater than 0.7 were reproducible. This correlation is associated with a q value of 0.05. A similar q value in the NCI60 study is associated with a correlation of just under 0.60. This assessment of acceptable correlations for gene:drug correlates worthy of potential further study is far lower than a conventional correction for multiple hypotheses would suggest.
