Muscle hypertrophy in callipyge sheep. There were no differences in the birth weights (BW) and live weights (LW) between callipyge (+/C) and normal lambs (+/+). Callipyge lambs had significantly heavier longissimus dorsi (LD), semimembranosus (SM), semitendinosus (ST) and triceps brachii (TB) muscles. There were no differences in muscle weights for the supraspinatus (SS), infraspinatus (IS) and heart (HT). Significant differences are indicated by (*; P < 0.05, or **; P < 0.01) between callipyge and normal lambs within each muscle
