Groups of KOG-identified DEGs similarly regulated during all three periods of acute heat stress. Prominent groups of DEGs from the KOG categories O, E, and E (see Fig. 4a-c) were similarly regulated during all three periods of acute heat stress. Mostly, they encode (a) heat shock and stress proteins, (b) trypsins, transporters, and other peptidases, and (c) carbohydrases, transporters, and UDP-glucuronosyl/−glucosyl transferases (see also Fig. 8b and Additional file 1: Table S1).
