Experimental design. Pigs were selected for a low or high feed efficient (FE) phenotype. From each piglet, 4 colon and 2 ileum tissue samples were taken to generate replicate 3D organoid cultures, from which 2D organoids were produced. Gene expression was measured after incubation of 2D organoids during 5 h with or without the presence of LF82 adherent/invasive E. coli (challenged/control).
