Enriched biological processes and associated networks for genes up- and downregulated after venom milking viperids Crotalus viridis and C. tigris. The top ten biological processes are shown with their level of significance for genes (A) upregulated at least 10-fold and (B) downregulated to less than 0.10-fold at 96 hpvm. Gene ontology analysis was completed using DAVID Bioinformatics Resources [73, 74] and Benjamini-Hochberg adjusted p-values were used for identifying levels of significance. For each up- and downregulated gene set, (C) gene networks and associated biological processes were generated using the ClueGo app plug-in [75] in Cytoscape [76] with Homo sapiens orthologs. A minimum number of 3 genes was required for pathway selection. Light red colored ovals highlight upregulated gene networks with the greatest number of related nodes, and the light-colored blue oval for those downregulated.
