  1. Real-time RT-PCR was used to investigate the relative expression of strongly regulated genes in oxic or anoxic conditions. Values are normalised to rpoZ and to the control under normal iron conditions. The data represent the mean of at least three independent experiments. A p-value was computed using the student’s t test. Variations were considered statistically significant when the p-value was ≤0.05.
